Hey, won't go into Southern Slam, check out DNN for all the coverage and vids. Awesome that the VRDL managed to bring home the trophy.
But couple of quick things to mention...
GRDL
As the GRDL season rounds out, GRDL are hosting thier Season 2010 grand final which sees Psychotics face off against the Atom Bombs on Sunday, 15 August 2010 2pm – 6pm.
So make sure you get into team colours and support your favourite Geelong team. I can't remember which one I like, so I'll be supporting both!
Tickets are available at the door or at thier website.
As always at Corio Lesuire Centre, check Google Maps for more details.
More info on thier website, facebook and thier Myspace.
BRDL
BRDL have been doing well, putting in two very almost wins in the last month.
Against VRDL's B-team, the Rat Pack managed to rack up 97 points to the B-team's 113.
They also did very well at the GRDL Semi Final and personally thought they should have won. Ended up being a very close match. In the end the Rat Pack (BRDL) 90 lost to Psychotics (GRDL) 102.
And they have some very swish merch....
Not clear when we'll see them next, but I'm sure it'll be a good time when we will.
Also check out the BRDL Facebook Group, the BRDL Forum and the BRDL website.
South Seas Roller Derby
SSRD keep on keeping on. According to the
Frankston Independent they are
having a wheely good time.
They are having thier first public bout this month. The Bout for Blood will be held on Saturday 28th of August at Springers Leisure Centre, 400 Cheltenham Road,
Keysborough. Doors open at 7pm, bout starts at 8pm.
Tickets available from thier website or in store at
Hellbound Tattoos. $10 Adults, $5 kids, under fives free.
And don't forget to check out thier facebook page
Sadly we can't go... we've already made plans for our anniversary...
Hit and Miss Magazine
Hit and Miss launched at the Great Southern Slam, but I picked up a copy of Hit and Miss at VRDL bout and it was very glossy. Has some interesting shtuff in it and haven't had a
proper chance to read it (it got moved when we did cleaning and haven't been able to track it down). But well worth the $9.
Will be good to see how they go with issue 2 which they are working on at the moment.
You can buy/subscribe at thier website, though there's no indication how many issues you get in a year.
Follow them @HAMrollerderby, friend/like them on
facebook
VRDL
Off the back of their The Great Southern Slam win, the VRDL kicked some tail at home with Double Disolution.
There was an awesome double header, VRDL B-team vs BRDL's Rat Pack and VRDL up against Canberra's Roller Derby League.
We've discussed BRDL above, but VRDL 191 easily defeat CRDL 57.
Tickets for bouts continue to sell faster than hot cakes, so keep an eye out for ticket sales.
Check out thier Myspace, the VRDL Facebook group or the VRDL blog.

The Counihan Gallery in Moreland are showing Prudence Murphy: Future Forms.
I don't know much about art and I'm not really sure what defines art, but it's certainly something to talk about. From the program
Quote:
Future Forms presents a typological series documenting a succession of Lego structures created by a child during his fourth year of life. Lego, such a pervasive element of our early years, was chosen to engage the viewer’s own preoccupations and imaginings of childhood. The model structures are viewed as a series of colour photographs printed larger than life to emphasize their monumental and sculptural nature.
Exhibition runs 13 August - 5 September (with opening Thursday 12 August 6 - 8 pm).
